London/Stroud/Hybrid We are looking for a CEO who can provide dynamic, inclusive leadership to a small but mighty team working to deliver our ambitious plans. As CEO, you will make a significant ecological and educational impact overseeing a broad range of projects from engaging with over 11,000 schools and colleges, 4,500 young people and 300,000 teachers through our Ministry of Eco Education work to managing the delivery of our ambitious rewilding programme across 165 hectares of land supporting wildlife (including the re-introduction of beavers) and restoring biodiversity. We have several projects and opportunities on the horizon. To realise their full potential, we need a leader who can help shape and deliver our strategic ambitions, working closely with our Trustees, internal and external teams. You will serve as an influential ambassador for us locally, regionally, and nationally, including with donors, the local community, landowners, MPs, councillors, and other charities. We seek a leader with successful senior management experience, ideally within conservation or the charity sector. Strong strategic planning, communication, and financial management skills are essential. You should also have a proven track record of working with diverse stakeholders and generating sustainable income streams. Role Responsibilities include: Developing strategy : Leading the development of the charity's activities and strategic plan, to be agreed in conjunction with the Board of Trustees Managing finances : Preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, and overseeing the preparation of annual reports Fundraising : Managing fundraising and developing relationships with funding partners Staff management : Recruiting, selecting, training, developing, and managing the performance of staff Communication : Strengthening communication channels with stakeholders and staff, and developing and executing media and marketing strategies Public profile : Ensuring the charity's public profile is developed and maintained, and fostering relationships with government, statutory, voluntary, and private bodies Leadership : Leading by example, instilling a culture of professionalism and inclusion, and coaching, training, and developing staff Organisation structure : Managing the organisation's organisational structure and communicating with the board. Key Responsibilities, include: Set and oversee the implementation of the Foundation’s 3 – 5-year strategic plan, ensuring a clear growth and implementation plan and the budget is set and delivered for each financial year Manage the charity governance and operations, including contributing to the charity’s Annual Report, reporting financial and delivery updates to Board Members and leading on agreed actions Ensure effective policies, procedures and processes are in place to meet Charity Commission’s regulatory requirements Set and deliver against the Foundation’s budget and income generation plan and report progress updates to the Board of Directors, with recommended actions to achieve the organisations’ reserves and growth plans Ensure the Foundation’s delivery plans align with the Foundation’s financial and resource availability and charitable objectives Ensure the work of the Foundation is communicated, both internally and externally, to achieve maximum awareness of the Foundation’s impact and influence Ensure full diligence and compliance to Health and Safety, Risk Management (business/finance) and Safeguarding practices and General Data Protection Regulations Actively champion and promote equality, diversity and inclusion across recruitment, internal development, and programme delivery activities Represent the Foundation at stakeholder meetings. About You Skills and Experience Proven experience as a CEO or similar leadership position Experience in developing high level strategies and implementing an organisation’s vision Exceptional understanding of finance, risk management and performance management principles Familiarity with diverse business functions such as marketing, PR, finance, Health and Safety, HR, and Safeguarding. Exceptional knowledge of governance and general management best practices Sound knowledge and understanding of environmental practices and a passion for making these central to an organisation’s success. An entrepreneurial mind-set with outstanding organisational and leadership skills Analytical abilities and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
