PA required in Norwich to assist a young boy for 2 hrs p/w £12.50 p/h - Norwich - NR5
I am a young boy with additional needs, SEMH needs. I am looking for a personal assistant to support me with various activities. I am an active child with lots of energy, so will need a PA that is active to keep up with me. I particularly like people with a playful nature that can get into character with imaginative play. Though I have my favourites, I am open-minded with activities; sometimes I need to be given options to choose, but not too many as this can become overwhelming for me.
We could be going to the beach, swimming which I like to do a lot, I will be attending swimming lessons, visiting clubs, cinema, play areas, indoors and outdoors, going out on bicycle rides, gaming, puzzles. I am very passionate about Pokémon and could talk about the various types and their characteristics for ages.
On occasion, I will need support with personal care, for example, at the swimming pool I will need prompting and making sure I've dried and showered myself properly after, prompting to cream myself properly and to get dressed. I can do these things myself most of the time; however, I can at times struggle emotionally and mentally with these.
Praise, incentives, and reward schemes really help with completing tasks.
I will need support to time manage and keep my things together, organized.
Occasionally I may need support after a bowel movement; however, usually, I do this in the evening before bed so it's unlikely hence the occasional. In this circumstance, I would need prompting to wipe myself. I can get emotionally dysregulated when it's taking too long or I wipe again and see I missed a bit; I would need reassuring, supportive words, and patience. Right at the end when it looks as though I am clear, I will need you to check me to make sure I haven't missed any or spread it anywhere.
You will need to be passionate about getting to know me as an individual, what works and what doesn't, get to know my quirks, triggers, and techniques to support me. Support should be collaborative, in accordance with my EHCP, school, and parent; consistency, familiarity, and predictability are important.
