About the role
The Senior Structural Engineer plays a key role in supporting and delivering high-quality structural designs for projects. They are responsible for providing expert guidance on all structural matters, ensuring that designs meet safety, regulatory, and project requirements. This role involves overseeing the technical aspects of structural engineering, collaborating with other teams, and mentoring junior engineers to ensure the successful execution of complex projects. The Senior Structural Engineer is also instrumental in resolving challenges and ensuring that all structural systems are efficient and cost-effective.
This is a permanent, full-time position based out of our Edinburgh office and at home on a hybrid basis. You may be required to travel to additional client sites so a full UK driving license will be required for this role.
What will your day look like
Act as Lead Structural Designer on Multidisciplinary Water projects
Developing our Structural capability.
Providing advice and guidance on all Structural matters
Deliver a wide range of Structural design work and provide technically sound solutions, in compliance with current BS/EN Standards.
Promote best structural design practice and drive improved structural design awareness and performance.
Scope, plan and manage effective structural investigations to facilitate all project design requirements.
Advise on technical and procedural structural aspects of projects and provide overall guidance on best methods and practice to meet technical and project requirements.
Develop and manage a select list of external sub-consultants for use where capability and/or capacity requires it.
Liaise with Clients on technical matters and maintain strong working relationships.
Liaise with stakeholders regarding project matters and provide technical reports, permits, responses to queries etc. as required by the project.
Assess tender and project requirements from a structural perspective and prepare fee estimates for the associated structural input.
Contribute to the business development process and produce technical content for PQQ and Tenders
Project administration reporting to line management including monitoring structural design programme delivery, resources and budgets.
About you
As a Senior Structural Engineer with expertise in structural design, including RC, steelwork, and water/wastewater infrastructure. You will provide technical guidance and support, identify scope and deliverables, and manage the integration into a priced programme of work. Youll offer advice on regulatory compliance and lead discussions with regulators and stakeholders. With a strong understanding of statutory processes, technical standards, and current H&S legislation (including CDM), you will act as the primary point of contact for structural approvals, consents, and permits. Strong management, coordination, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.
