JOB TITLE: Security Customer Service Officer
REPORTING TO: Operations Manager
LOCATION: Gyle Shopping Centre, Edinburgh
HOURS: 42 hours per week, 4 on 4 off
ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE
Gyle Shopping Centre is one of Edinburgh’s prestige retail outlets, easily accessible from Edinburgh city Centre and surrounding areas. It offers free parking and discounts from certain retailers. As part of the ABM security team, you will benefit from a full uniform with annual refresh, access to Perk box employee benefits including discounted e-vouchers for retailers, gyms, holidays, and car rentals. The role includes access to an Employee Assistance Programme providing 24/7 support. This position is for a Security & Customer Service Officer working 42 hours weekly, on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, with paid breaks, at a competitive hourly rate. The role includes 20 days annual leave plus public holidays.
Online e-learning is available to support our comprehensive Learning & Development programs. Full training and induction are provided, fostering a team-oriented environment. The Security & Customer Service Officers at Gyle Shopping Centre are responsible for ensuring the safety and welfare of visitors, providing assistance to retailers and staff, and maintaining the smooth operation of the Centre.
Although shifts are forecasted, overtime may be required at short notice, which is considered an integral part of the job, with advance notice whenever possible.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* Dealing with customer complaints.
* Assisting members of the public.
* Attending to first aid incidents.
* Assisting retailers with shoplifting issues.
* Patrolling customer and staff car parks.
* Handling lost children and property.
* Assisting motorists with incidents.
* Testing fire alarm systems.
* Monitoring fire alarm panels and CCTV systems.
* Reporting defects and spillages, collecting litter.
* Signing in visitors.
* Operating intruder alarm systems and radios.
* Managing contractors and maintaining logs of keys.
* Opening and closing the Centre.
* Carrying out bank escorts and liaising with police.
* Enforcing no smoking policies.
* Implementing emergency procedures.
* Patrolling to prevent crime and unruly behavior.
* Customer service desk duties, including equipment hire and issuing gift cards.
* Checking compliance with fire safety regulations.
* Conducting safety checks and maintenance of facilities.
* Performing control room duties, including reception and inquiries.
Person Specification:
* Availability for shifts including evenings and weekends.
* Promotion of a safe and clean working environment.
* Adherence to health and safety legislation and policies.
* Maintaining professionalism and quality standards.
* Respectful workplace behavior.
* Good communication skills.
* SIA License (required).
* CCTV License (preferred).
* First Aid Qualification.
