Your primary task is to judge which requests can be dealt with within 15 minutes (then deal with them) and allocate more demanding requests to the rest of the Support Desk team.
Typical tasks include:
- Troubleshoot user account issues.
- Diagnose and clarify whether faults are configuration issues, software or hardware related.
- Accurately record details of customer requests/faults and collect all relevant information so the optimum solution can be implemented.
When you’re not taking calls, you’ll be:
- Configuring new PCs and network equipment ready for installation on customer sites.
- Monitoring systems and networks for abnormal statuses.
What could the future look like?
There’s no limit to what you can achieve while working with Pronetic. Their team is at the heart of what they do, and they are looking for someone who wants to play a key part in that long term.
Through ‘on-the-job’ training you’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills to provide competency and responsibility in carrying out testing and to help develop your career.
Hard work and determination will be recognised!
About You
If you are the kind of person who likes getting their hands dirty (a little at least) then you could get involved with work at customer sites with anything from simple installations, like setting up kit for new users (laptops, docks, keyboards, monitors & printers) to assisting with network cable installations.
You’ll be joining an incredibly supportive team that looks out for each other.
This is a tremendous opportunity for you if you’ll love providing IT support but feel the need to have a little more flexibility, work with a small but expanding Managed Services company and be able to learn
You need to be a person who loves to deliver remarkable experiences to other people.
You love learning, tinkering and finding out the right solution for each customer.
You need to be happy to be part of a small team where everyone mucks in and gets to influence the way we work.
In addition to being a details person, you must follow systems and processes. As your experience grows, be someone who likes creating systems and processes.
And finally, you should be comfortable to share the office with the office dogs (all well behaved, just need a ball throwing occasionally).
Experience
We don’t expect perfection or even much in the way of existing skills for you to qualify for this job. We can teach you that. We expect intelligence, energy, and a get it done attitude. You need to have an aptitude to absorb technical training and be a tenacious problem solver. (When you have questions, there will always be people on hand you can ask).
Previous customer facing experience would be desirable as you will be on the phone a lot. So, you need to enjoying talking with people, quizzing them on their requests, and explaining things to them in plain language with no technical jargon. (You can’t hide in the server room here!)
Qualifications
In our experience the most successful apprentices are those who are driven to find out more about the sector, can be up front about what they do and don’t already know, are considerate, self-reflective, and impatient to learn the job role!
So how does the apprenticeship work?
Over 12-15 months, you’ll devote a minimum of 6 hours of your working week on ‘off the job’ training. This can include theory training (for example, virtual lessons & online learning), alongside practical training (for example shadowing, mentoring, & time spent writing assignments. Together this will count towards a Level 3 Information Communication Technician Apprenticeship. You’ll be trained by an expert tutor from Tiro as well as an experienced mentor at Pronetic who together, will make sure you develop the knowledge, skills, and work habits you’ll need to succeed in your career.
Eligibility
While we never want to hinder your job application process with obstacles, there are some minimum requirements you’ll need to meet in order to do an apprenticeship, these are rules set by the UK Government.
You’ll need to be over 18, not in full time education, have lived in the UK for 3 years and have the right to work in the UK.
If you don’t quite meet these minimum requirements yet, let us know you’re interested here and we’ll get in touch to discuss this further with you.
