Job Overview A rare opportunity has arisen for an 8 month secondment within the GI Faster to Diagnosis team, based at Wexham Park Hospital. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Team Leader/ANP to join the Surgical and Gastroenterology services. We're looing for an individual who has exceptional leadership skills, to lead a team of 3 clinical nurse specialist. You will be responsible for providing an effective nurse delivered, consultant led service for patient who are referred via their GP and from other routes within the trust. This role requires someone with expert knowledge in Upper GI and Lower GI cancers and someone who has already shown an ability to develop and implement evidence based practice within a clinical environment. Main duties of the job Responsible in effective management of patients referred urgently by GPs for suspected UGI/LGI cancer. Provide comprehensive, consistent and clear information including clear decisions regarding next actions and will request diagnostic tests. Oversee and implement clinical and operational changes to the GI pathway due to innovations and improvements Lead the UGI/LGI nursing and administrative team to deliver the FDS GI pathway. Develop a new way of working for senior clinical nurses, providing a nurse delivered, consultant led colorectal cancer pathway in surgery. Use expert knowledge and experience to contribute and participate in the development of UGI/LGI cancer services regionally and locally, provide patient centred nurse delivered service at FHFT Lead developing/implementing evidence based practice within the clinical environment with a multi-professional focus having the ability to facilitate, initiate, manage and evaluate change in practice. Development and implementation of multi-disciplinary policies and GI protocols to promote service quality, effectiveness and patient safety. Practice autonomously providing leadership and educational development within the speciality, establishing close links with the multidisciplinary teams to provide continuity of care, advising on and participating in UGI/LGI Cancer Service development within Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance.
