Business Intelligence Manager, EU Fulfillment Optimization

Wondered how Amazon designs its transportation network to scale and reliably deliver hundreds of millions of package to customer’s doorsteps? If so, EU Fulfillment Optimization (EU-FO) team is for you. We are tasked with optimizing the fulfillment on customer orders so that we fulfill all orders in the most intelligent manner while ensuring Amazon customers get their orders on time.
We are seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Engineering Manager to lead our Reactive Transfers program across Europe. This strategic role will drive the optimization of our FC-to-FC transfer network to maximize consolidation benefits while ensuring profitability through data-driven decision making and automated solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the development and implementation of automated network design solutions to optimize reactive transfer lanes across European markets.
2. Drive continuous improvement of reactive transfer profitability through data-driven lane launches and deprecations based on sophisticated profitability models.
3. Partner with Finance, Operations, and Transportation teams to optimize network capacity planning and execution and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
4. Build and manage a team of Business Intelligence Engineers and Program Managers to deliver scalable analytics solutions.
5. Develop and maintain KPIs and reporting mechanisms to monitor program effectiveness and ROI.
6. Drive automation of network management processes to reduce manual effort and improve decision-making speed.
7. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to team members.
8. Own Warehouse Transfer MBR and represent the team in senior leadership forums.
9. Drive strategic initiatives to integrate networking design of warehouse transfers with that of outbound network and leverage synergies to improve truck fill-rate.
A Day in the Life
As the BIE Manager for Reactive Transfers, you'll optimize how we move inventory between fulfillment centers across Europe. Your typical day includes:
1. Leading a team of BIE engineers developing automation solutions.
2. Analyzing network performance metrics and lane profitability.
3. Collaborating with FCs, Transportation and Finance teams on new lane proposals.
4. Working with FC and Transportation operations to understand ground realities.
5. Driving improvements to our Transfer Network Planner system.
You'll regularly interact with:
1. Transportation teams (ATS, GTS) and FC operations leaders (ACES, Sr. Ops Managers).
2. Finance teams.
3. US-based Tech teams (SCOT-FO, AFT).
4. Senior leadership in MBRs/QBRs.
You'll balance strategic thinking (long-term network design) with tactical execution (weekly operations), while solving complex mathematical problems that impact millions of packages. The most exciting part? Your decisions directly influence Amazon's operational efficiency and bottom line across European operations.
Basic Qualifications
1. Experience in business intelligence and analytics.
2. Experience in data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures and hands-on SQL coding.
3. Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.
4. Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs.
5. Experience managing a data or BI team.
6. Several years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or related technical field and people management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software.
2. Experience in delivering results managing a business intelligence or analytics team, including employee development and performance management.
3. Experience leading and influencing the BI strategy of your team or organization.
