We are offering a fixed-term Specialty doctor post at Morriston Hospital Emergency Department.
This role is designed for doctors working towards their Portfolio Pathway (CESR) application. It is a training role with educational support, aiming to develop your career within a structured program. The position is available immediately on a fixed-term basis, with the contract length to be discussed at interview based on individual needs.
You will be assigned an ED Consultant who has completed the CESR process to guide you through your portfolio development. Your training will mirror higher specialty training and utilize portfolio evidence similarly.
In-house education includes ultrasound, simulation, literature search, critical appraisal, research methodology, and radiology, with support to attain provider/instructor status in ALS, ATLS, APLS courses.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will participate in a 24/7 rota supported by experienced doctors, with dedicated weekly SPA time and additional specialty training as needed. The average weekly hours, including SPA, will not exceed 45 hours.
You will be clinically responsible for diagnosing, supervising, and managing patients in the ED, providing initial treatment and assessment for adults and children, and arranging reviews or admissions as necessary.
On rare occasions, you may be required to work outside normal hours for patient care continuity.

Depending on individual needs, up to 3 months per year can be spent in:
* Acute Medicine,
* Trauma and Orthopaedics/General Surgery,
* Paediatrics.
These secondments aim to develop core competencies in these areas and provide excellent portfolio building and experience at ST3 level onwards.

Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration with license to practice
* MB BS or equivalent
* 48 months postgraduate experience, including 12 months in emergency medicine or evidence of ST3 EM competencies
* Provider status in ALS/ATLS/EPLS
* MRCEM
Experience
* Effective teamworking in a multidisciplinary environment
* Commitment to collaborative care and multi-disciplinary working
* Up-to-date with current Emergency Medicine practices
* Experience in audit, liaison, Quality Improvement, and NHS systems
Skills
* Understanding of clinical risk management and governance
