Superstore Deputy Manager Advert - Hanley
Our charity shops play a crucial role in raising funds to help us deliver care and to support local people. We are currently seeking a proactive and organised Deputy Shop Manager to join our brand new Superstore Shop team, based in Hanley.
As the Deputy Shop Manager, you’ll work closely with the Superstore Manager to support the daily operations of our Hanley shop. You’ll play an essential role in supporting staff and leading a team of volunteers, helping to drive sales, and ensuring the shop runs smoothly in the manager’s absence. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with retail experience and a passion for charity work.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Superstore Manager in overseeing daily shop operations, including opening and closing procedures
* Assist in motivating and managing a team of staff and volunteers, creating a welcoming and productive environment
* Help with sorting, pricing, and displaying donations to maximise sales including furniture
* Provide exceptional customer service and ensure high standards are maintained
* Take on leadership responsibilities in the Manager's absence
* Oversee till operations and cash handling accurately and efficiently
* Maintain a safe, organised, and clean shopping environment
About You
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Deputy Manager with a can-do attitude and a commitment to supporting Dougie Mac’s mission. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a proactive approach to help the team succeed. Ideally, you’ll have:
* Previous experience in retail, preferably in a large charity or high street shop setting
* Strong leadership qualities to support and guide volunteers
* A customer-focused approach and strong communication skills
* Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and cover shifts, including weekends
* An eye for detail and creativity to help present the shop attractively

Hours: 42.5 hours a week (5 out of 6 days a week) Closed on Sundays
Salary from: £27,700
The role will require a DBS check which would be processed and paid for by the Hospice.
