Counselling Support and Outreach Coordinator - England
Contract
Location: Home working with travel to support events in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, and Avon and Somerset. Following further expansion in July 2025, the post-holder will cover Wiltshire, Hampshire, and Dorset. Occasional travel to 2wish Head Office in South Wales.
Objective:
2wish exists to provide support to anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under.
Aims:
* Ensure every Emergency Department and Critical Care unit has a suitable bereavement suite.
* Ensure that bereavement boxes are available at each of these hospitals.
* Ensure that immediate bereavement support is available for all affected by the sudden death of a child or young person.
* Provide a professional counselling service and other therapies for those affected by the sudden death of a child or young person.
* Provide support to individuals who witness the sudden death of a child or young person.
* Provide support and training to professionals from any sector who may be affected by the sudden death of a child or young person.
* To advocate and campaign on behalf of suddenly bereaved families.
Context of role:
As we continue to expand our services across England, the successful candidate will play a vital role in the development of the expansion into England and will join a new team delivering a high-quality service.
Service Responsibilities:
* Coordinate support services including counselling, complementary therapy, and play therapy for bereaved individuals.
* Receive and contact referrals directly from professional agencies, bereaved individuals, or the immediate support team.
* Contact all individuals within 48 hours of receiving a support service referral.
* Liaise with counsellors and therapists to arrange and coordinate support.
* Deliver awareness training to secondary referral partners in healthcare settings, schools, and workplaces.
* Set up, coordinate, and attend regular coffee mornings for bereaved individuals and professionals.
* Plan, organize, and attend bi-monthly family and sibling events.
* Contribute to and monitor the Counsellors and Therapists Facebook page and other 2wish social media platforms.
* Raise awareness of 2wish in the community and with key partners.
* Attend the annual 2wish Conference.
* Submit reports to the Bereavement Services Manager as required.
* Signpost and/or refer to other agencies that can provide support as required.
General Responsibilities:
* Organize own work agenda, time management, and administration.
* Show respect and sensitivity for the cultural and religious beliefs of families.
* Undertake learning opportunities for personal and team development.
* Adhere to company policies and procedures including Safeguarding and Confidentiality.
* Attend weekend and evening community events as necessary.
* Participate in team meetings and undertake relevant training.
This role is subject to a DBS check.
Salary: Starting salary of £24,000 per annum, with the opportunity for an increase through the annual appraisal structure.
Contract type: Permanent - initially providing maternity cover.
Hours: Normal office hours are 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required.
Annual leave: 28 days plus bank holidays, increasing after five years of service.
