Position: Teaching Assistant (SEND)
Location: St Austell
Contract: Full-Time
Start Date: January 2025
Responsibilities
As a Teaching Assistant within our SEND unit, you will:
1. Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language difficulties.
2. Assist with the delivery of individualized education plans (IEPs) and EHCPs.
3. Use specialised strategies and resources, such as Makaton, PECs, and sensory interventions, to support learning.
4. Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment to help children achieve their full potential.
5. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent and effective support.
6. Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being through de-escalation techniques and praise.
About You
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:
1. Has experience working with SEND children (experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential).
2. Demonstrates empathy, patience, and a passion for supporting pupils with diverse needs.
3. Is confident using SEND-specific tools and approaches or is willing to learn.
4. Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – desirable but not essential.
5. Is a team player, proactive, and adaptable to a dynamic environment.
