Career Opportunities with Town of Brookline
The Brookline DPW is seeking candidates for a Motor Equipment Operator II to provide heavy equipment operation and manual labor relating to the activities of the Water and Sewer Division.
Responsibilities:
1. Operates vehicles, including dump trucks, front-end loaders, crane truck, catch basin cleaner, and sewer cleaner/vactor/jetting truck.
2. Operates plow trucks during snow removal emergencies.
3. Conducts safety inspections of vehicles to ensure proper operation.
4. Operates equipment at sewer and water construction sites and hauls and transports materials.
5. Installs new water services, repairs broken water lines and water mains.
6. Assists pipe layers and craftspersons with tasks related to water and sewer services.
7. Assists contractors with copper water line installations and operates tapping machine.
8. Repairs broken catch basins and sewer covers and assists in clearing sewer blockages.
9. Assists in excavations and backfill of utility trenches.
10. Makes connections of water pipes, sewer pipes, and drainage pipes.
11. Performs snow plowing and snow removal tasks as assigned.
12. Performs similar or related work as required, or as situation dictates.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma.
2. One or two years of experience performing labor and driving heavy equipment and trucks.
3. Experience working on construction projects with specific experience in sewer and/or water repair and maintenance or other utility projects, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
4. Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class B.
5. Valid MA Hoisting Engineer's License.
6. Ability to drive and operate potentially dangerous equipment, assist other personnel on projects, lift heavy objects, recognize maintenance or repair needs of vehicles and equipment, and read plans and diagrams.
Starting salary: $28.29 per hour plus generous benefits and excellent working conditions. Open until filled.
