Location: Bournemouth
Hourly Rate: £12.50
Driver required with current Drivers Licence (Client has her own car that you will use)
About You
You would need to be a calm, fun individual who can swim and enjoys the outdoors. The person you would be supporting is very much an outdoors person, who works on a farm 3 days per week and likes to go for long walks on the weekends. She also loves swimming, so you must be a good swimmer.
You would need to be a competent driver with a full UK driver’s licence, as the person you are supporting has her own car which you can use to take her out and to the farm.
You would also need to be a good and clear communicator, as the person you are supporting has a communication disorder.
Experience with autism, learning disabilities, or sensory processing difficulties would be an advantage, although training will be provided.
About the Role
Jane is a 27-year-old young adult female with autism, learning disabilities, and sensory processing disorder. She currently lives in the family home in Bournemouth but will be moving out into her own home very soon within the BH postcode area. She is very active and is a joy to be around. She is happy, interactive, and has a wicked sense of humour!
She loves visiting local areas including the New Forest and the beach and has regular access to leisure activities including swimming, bowling, and golf at the weekends.
She enjoys listening to music, watching Disney, and thoroughly enjoys food!
There are personal care duties required within this position, including helping with bathing, hair washing, and applying creams.
Clear structure, routine, and full support with accessing a varied activity schedule are required to help her respond well.
Her communication style includes using objects of reference, certain key words, sign language, and her iPad.
The support ratio is 1:1 at all times, including helping her use public transport with her own bus pass.
She enjoys swimming, walking, and trampolining every week, and requires team members to share her interests, especially her love of being outdoors.
Some of her favourite pastimes include going out to coffee shops, and lunch at KFC or McDonald's.
Jodie’s week also includes going to a day service 2 days per week and attending the working farm 3 days per week.
She also has a small job, currently supported by her parents, delivering magazines in her local area, which enables her to earn some money.
