Please note this role is to cover maternity leave and is fixed term for 12 months. We are looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic, highly motivated and committed nurse to join our team.
The role will be based across our two sites. The working pattern can be negotiated.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of Practice Nursing care to the practice population that is both evidence-based and follows local and national guidelines. This will include general treatment room, preventative care, and patient education.
Job responsibilities
Duties may include any of the following, subject to necessary training and supervision where required:
1. Wound care
2. Removal of sutures/clips
3. Ear syringing
4. Immunisations/therapeutic injections to adults and children, in accordance with local PGD’s
5. Cervical screening
6. Meet the requirements of revalidation with the NMC and work in accordance with the NMC code of conduct
7. To supervise and support health care assistants
8. To provide emergency/urgent care as arises in the surgery
9. To undertake any additional duties as needed by the team once provided with the appropriate training
10. Involved in maintenance of equipment and stock levels, including emergency equipment
11. Ensure that infection control/ health and safety measures are met, and report concerns to the Nurse Manager
12. Participate in meetings/training as required by practice team
13. Ensure accurate, timely records of all consultations are recorded in computerised records
14. Participate in education and training of students and new members of practice staff
15. Communicate effectively with all members of practice team, other agencies, and disciplines
16. Maintain continuing education by attending courses and study days as deemed necessary
17. Attend annual appraisal and participate in clinical supervision
Person Specification
Experience
* RGN Qualified nurse (or equivalent) on register of NMC
* Good time management able to work within appointment system
* Can work autonomously
* Good team member
* Good rapport with patients
* Evidence of personal development
* Can offer holiday & sickness cover
* Practice nurse experience (Desirable/Advantage)
* Willingness to take part in PCT/wider NHS developments (Desirable)
* Knowledge of SystmOne computer system (Desirable)
Qualifications
* RGN Qualified nurse (or equivalent) on register of NMC
