Robert Frith Optometrists is a family of 12 independent opticians spanning Dorset and Somerset, with our first practice still located in Twickenham. The original company “Frith Bros” was founded in Twickenham by Robert Frith’s Uncle back in 1926.
Robert Frith Optometrists in Twickenham are currently looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and experienced individual to fill the role of Dispensing Assistant.
The Dispensing Assistant plays various roles within an optical practice to help patients.
The core role of a Dispensing Assistant is to advise on, fit and supply the most appropriate spectacle frames and lenses for each person. Therefore, you must be an individual with high-quality communication skills able to deal with queries professionally, whilst also being empathetic with people to help make them feel at ease. You will have a calm and caring manner, and excel at making our patients feel welcome and valued.
The ability to work well as part of a team and get on well with other staff members is crucial, as well as being able to prioritise work and be proactive when working alone. You need to be well organised and accurate in your work.
You will be willing to learn and gain new skills from colleagues, to improve the performance of the practice team overall and ensure that our patients receive high-quality care and up-to-date advice when they visit us.

DUTIES:
* Welcoming patients into the practice and assisting with their queries
* Booking appointments
* Dealing with clinical paperwork
* Cash handling
* General administration and reception support
* Repairs and adjustments to spectacles
* Processing orders for spectacles and contact lenses, and arranging patient collection
* Visual screening tests directed and supervised by the Optometrist
* Checking spectacles on delivery to ensure that they meet the required specifications
* Interpreting optical prescriptions written by optometrists or ophthalmologist
* Advising and dispensing the most suitable lenses and frames based on a patient’s lifestyle, driving, work, hobbies, and activities
* Maintaining a full and up-to-date knowledge of lens designs, frame designs and materials
REQUIREMENTS:
* A minimum of two GCSEs at level 4 (grade C) or above in Maths & English
* Enthusiastic and proactive

* Good organisational skills
* Professional attitude and appearance
* Good verbal and written communication
* Confident with computers
You will be contracted to 37.5 hours per week, to include Saturdays.
