The County Veterinary Clinic
SMALL ANIMAL VETERINARY SURGEON
100% SA independent practice, Taunton and Ilminster, Somerset.
We are looking for an all-rounder with some experience to join four other full and part-time vets in providing a very high-quality service to our great clients and their pets. We are a friendly, supportive and kind team and we enjoy our work.
We are a VN training practice, RCVS accredited (a comment from one of our RCVS inspections: “clinic is well-designed & equipped, vets and nurses practising a high standard of veterinary medicine and surgery across a wide range of conditions”)
We are extensively equipped including digital x-ray, colour Doppler ultrasound, flexible and rigid endoscopy, dental x-ray, multiparameter monitoring. DipECVAA and CertSAM in house as well as visiting specialists. We have great support staff, some of whom have been with us many years.
We would love to employ someone who is kind, conscientious and enthusiastic. We would like a confident clinician who is happy to manage their own patients, as well as being keen to share ideas and discuss cases. We currently have four other vets who work a variety of full and part time hours. They are all friendly, highly approachable and are happy to share their wisdom as well as learn from someone new.
Minimum 15 minute appointments. If your idea of fun is hour upon hour of back-to-back 10-minute consults and repetitive neutering, then this is not for you. If you like having time to spend with clients & patients, plus time to think and work up your cases, then get in touch.
Fantastic area in the heart of Somerset, with great schools and an excellent mix of town and country, near the Quantock and Blackdown Hills. Exmoor is twenty minutes’ drive and the Jurassic coast is only half an hour away. Every sort of club and activity (sporting or otherwise) is available; there is so much to do locally. The area is very popular with other professionals; many legal and accountancy firms are based here, there is a large NHS teaching hospital and lots of military personnel as well as young farmers!
Transport links are excellent; 1 hour 40 mins by rail to central London, two international airports within 40 minutes and the M5 motorway is five minutes away.
Full time or part time considered as we know what it’s like working and having other commitments. All nighttime emergencies are seen by our out of hours provider.
Salary would be commensurate with individual skill set and working pattern, but a package of up to £60K+ would be available for the right candidate, with RCVS/VDS/BVA memberships covered. Private healthcare, life insurance, pension and CPD funded.
