Permanent, Clerk to the Governors Level 1 – Part time, term time only
Salary BS3 - £22737 to £23114 per annum pro rata (plus the living wage supplement – hourly £12.00)
Approximately 10 evening meetings per year plus other duties.
We are looking for a highly organised and efficient candidate who can fulfil our Clerk to the Governors role on either an employed or self-employed basis.
The Clerk provides effective administrative support to the Board of Governors and its committees, advising on governance, constitutional and procedural matters, duties and powers. The Clerk is accountable to the Board of Governors, ensuring that the Board is properly constituted.
The Clerk to the Governors will work closely with the Chair of Governors to ensure that meetings are convened, minutes and records of attendance at meetings are taken and kept, and notices issued and received in accordance with the relevant regulations. The role involves some small administrative tasks such as filing of minutes and keeping Governors records up to date. The candidate also needs to have strong attention to detail and have the ability to deal with sensitive information with the utmost discretion and to maintain confidentiality at all times.
The candidate, with previous experience preferable but not essential, should be motivated and able to work independently to ensure that the administrative and procedural requirements are met so the Governing Board can fulfil its statutory responsibilities.
There is some flexibility with hours, but we will need the successful candidate to attend our governor meetings in school, which may be during the evening. The rest of the hours can be worked during the week at the Clerk's own discretion. Training will be available, if required.
Newlaithes Junior School is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check will be required.
Closing date for Applications: 9:00am 14th June 2024. References for short-listed candidates will be requested before interviews. Interviews are to be confirmed and further details about the interview process will be emailed to the candidates in good time.
A visit to the school is warmly encouraged.
An application form is available on our website at https://www.newlaithes.com/vacancies.html or via email from the school office. For further details please contact us: 01228512768.
