We are recruiting for a Specialist Clinical Practitioner (Children and Young Persons Specialty) to join our team. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care.
You could be a Registered MH Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker with specialist experience and knowledge in Children and Young Peoples Mental Health.
Do you have a high level of skill in the assessment and care of people who present to the Emergency Department in mental health crisis and those who have mental health needs during their inpatient stay in the acute hospital?
This position is suitable for a highly motivated, compassionate person who can work under pressure. You'd be expected to provide clinical leadership, carry out clinical assessment and intervention, and provide education to the team and acute hospital in the specialty of Children and Young Peoples Mental Health.
You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to interact at all levels. This is a challenging but rewarding role within a busy and evolving multidisciplinary service.
Main duties of the job
The MH&LD Liaison Team provides assessments, advice, and reasonable adjustments for people with mental health needs and learning disabilities accessing treatment at St Mary's Hospital. We aim to improve the parity of care for people of all ages with mental health and learning disabilities in the acute hospital and work with their family and carers to ensure they have the best possible care and treatment.
The MH&LD Liaison Team works across the full age spectrum and provides a 24-hour service across seven days of the week. Additionally, the MH&LD Liaison Team collaborates with the Ambulance service to support people with mental health needs and learning disabilities in the community through the Mental Health Rapid Response Vehicle service (MHRRV).

1. Core professional qualification, e.g. Nurse, Social Worker, Therapist
2. Educated to masters or equivalent level
Experience
Essential
1. Experience of specialist mental health assessment and treatment of children and adolescents and their families, carers where appropriate as a full member of a multidisciplinary team located in community, primary care, outpatients or inpatient settings
2. Demonstrable success at managing change, service development and continuous improvement
3. Experience of working in a healthcare setting
4. Proven ability in making a significant contribution to the achievement of organizational objectives and key performance indicators
5. Proven ability to work flexibly and to tight deadlines
6. Experience of working in an autonomous role in designing the packages of care for young people presenting with sudden onset, chronic and longstanding physical and mental health concerns
7. Experience of working with a wide variety of children, adolescents and their families, carers across the whole range and presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
8. Experience of teaching and or training other professionals.
9. Have experience of managing staff within a clinical environment.
