Do you want to help shape the long-term plan for how South East Water manages its water supply assets?
In this role, you will help to the direction for how we look after our infrastructure network, making sure we're planning for the future.
You'll play a key part in developing and maintaining our asset management strategies, and also in how we improve our overall asset management systems.
Main responsibilities:
* Support the Asset Strategy Leads in the production of long-term plans for the business, such as Asset Management Policy and Asset Management Strategic Plan, building on existing business-wide strategic plans such as Sustainability Development Strategy, Water Resource Management Plan, 25 Year Environment Plan and Climate Change Adaptation Report.
* Lead for the Asset Management department on Climate Change Adaptation reporting and monitoring of actions, along with internal reporting mechanisms. Work with the Risk Manager to keep climate-related risks current.
* Update the business when milestones on the adaptive pathways are reached, such that informed, evidence-based decisions can be made and progress can be monitored. Collaborate with the Long Term Planning Team in Asset Management in the development of the Long Term Delivery Strategy and the Asset Management Plans.
* Lead on Biodiversity Net Gain impact for Asset Management as a member of the Biodiversity Net Gain working group. Work within the Asset Management department to support the Asset Planning team to include Biodiversity Net Gain appropriately in the scoping of schemes.
* Support engagement, information gathering, and inclusion across the business in the preparation of the strategies and reports, while maintaining appropriate governance. Successfully work to deadlines.
* Successfully gather information and opinions from stakeholders. Gain agreement on content and governance of strategies and then ensure effective communication and adoption across the business.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues at Senior Management Team level, as well as colleagues who are providing the detailed technical information. Develop trust and rapport, along with knowledge transfer with stakeholders.
* Continue to develop asset management excellence by developing own professional/specialist or technical knowledge and skills, in order to improve the quality of overall departmental performance and to maintain a high standard of work.
* Work with the Asset Strategy Leads and Asset Policy and Strategy Manager to ensure sound, evidence-based decisions are made in generating/updating strategic documents.
You’ll need to have:
Essential:
* Data analysis, communication, and influencing skills at all levels.
* Experience in writing strategies and technical documents.
* Experience planning projects and meeting timescales.
* Teamwork and stakeholder management skills.
* Strategic view and ability to “join the dots” to develop strategies.
* Demonstrate excellence by thinking ahead, prioritising, and developing structured and efficient approaches to deliver high-quality work on time (and within budget).
Desirable:
* Institute of Asset Management certificate or diploma.
* Engineering, science or technical Degree level/technical qualification or equivalent experience (3+ years).
* Ability to present complex information to the Executive and Senior Management Team.
* Experience in an asset-intensive industry, preferably in the water industry or utility sector.
* Knowledge/experience of climate change reporting.
