We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, who is committed to excellence in Clinical breast surgery to join our dynamic team.
The Breast Service at Southampton provides local services for the people of Southampton and much of Hampshire receiving over 6000 new symptomatic referrals and treating over 600 breast cancers last year. The Unit is managed through the Women and New-born Health Division of the trust. The successful candidate will join an existing team of 8 breast surgeons (one academic), 9 breast care nurses, 1 advanced nurse practitioners, 8 breast radiologists 6 breast histopathologists and 9 breast oncologists.

-Capacity to operate under pressure. Demonstrates initiative and resilience to cope with setbacks & adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and needs of the services, and to fulfil duties of the agreed weekly job plan.
-Maintain the highest standards of management of breast conditions and disease
-To attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings of various types as appropriate.
-Wherever possible, emergency breast referrals are managed within the breast unit, during office hours. There is no requirement to participate in the General Surgery out of hours on call rota.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- You will have responsibility specifically for providing high-quality training within the breast unit alongside colleagues and clinical leads for that area.
- You will be responsible for the training and supervision of junior medical staff that work with them and will devote time to this activity on a regular basis
- You will not have a formal Research component to their job plan however all clinicians are expected to actively support ongoing research themes and projects in line with the expectations of a vibrant academic hospital, including recruitment to clinical trials. You should be up to date with Good Clinical Practice and regularly engage with our dedicated Clinical Trials Team.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
