We are currently seeking an Infrastructure Technician to join our Edinburgh Trams Infrastructure Maintenance team. Reporting to the Senior Technician, you will collaborate with a diverse team of technicians to perform both planned and reactive maintenance on track infrastructure, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Edinburgh Tram Network. Your responsibilities will include the maintenance and servicing of various mechanical and electrical trackside equipment, such as Overhead Line Equipment (OLE), Signaling, Communication Systems (PIS), Security (CCTV), Power Supply (MV & HV), and Electrical Systems (SCADA).
Successful candidates will work on a rotating shift pattern, including morning, afternoon, night, and weekend shifts. Full training will be provided to successful candidates.
You’ll create impact by ….
1. Performing maintenance and response activities while ensuring compliance with safe systems of work procedures.
2. Allocating and managing resources to meet daily production plans, in collaboration with Senior Technician, Track Manager, and E&M Manager.
3. Carrying out routine and corrective maintenance of Tram Infrastructure, following Edinburgh Trams maintenance standards.
4. Serving as a liaison with the customer for out-of-course events and managing shift handovers when acting as shift supervisor.
5. Ensuring infrastructure/plant defects are recorded and addressed through the Maintenance Management System (MMS).
6. Providing guidance to team members and ensuring personal competence in performing assigned tasks.
7. Promoting Health & Safety culture by setting a good example and being prepared to handle emergency situations.
You’d describe yourself as …
1. Having proven experience in an electrical/mechanical engineering environment.
2. Possessing strong technical knowledge of infrastructure systems and equipment.
3. Having hands-on experience with MV/HV electrical power systems switching and maintenance.
4. Being able to follow procedures and complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
5. Having knowledge of health and safety regulations, including risk assessments, manual handling, and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
6. Being an excellent team player with strong collaborative skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
7. Being proficient in IT systems and software.
8. Having strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
9. Holding a full, clean driver’s license.
