An opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a or Band 7 with Preceptorship Senior Clinical Psychologists or recently qualified psychologists interested in preceptorship roles. We require a motivated and dynamic Clinical Psychologist to join our growing team offering input to adult mental health inpatient facilities within Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.
The post will primarily be based at our Pendleview Site based at Royal Blackburn Hospital, although we are open to flexibility working across our two sites, the second of which is established at our Whalley site. This is a recently refurbished Woodview Unit which has a total of 32 beds including 12 Male, 12 Female and an 8 bedded Male PICU unit. These additional beds will complement those on the Pendleview Unit, Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Candidates not yet meeting all requirements for appointment at Band 8a can be considered for appointment at Band 7 with the view to progress to 8a dependent on assessment of performance at professional review.
Training and development opportunities would be sought to prepare any appointee for the band 8a position. Progression to the 8a pay band would be conditional upon demonstration of the required competencies via evaluation and job performance. The post holder will be joining a team of Clinical Psychologists offering support to inpatient units across Pennine Lancashire with plenty of opportunity for peer supervision and support.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing confident, experienced clinical and managerial input. To offer advice and consultation on service user's psychological care to psychology and non-psychology colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the services policies and procedures.
The post holder would have pre-qualification experience of working in an inpatient environment or experience working qualified in a different profession within adult mental health and would be supported to develop competencies to work fully into a senior clinical psychology role over a two year period. The expectation would be for the post holder to progress via a process of supported development and evaluation to be able to provide direct clinical input, supervision, consultation, teaching and clinical leadership to their multidisciplinary teams as appropriate to a senior psychologist role.
