As a Purchasing Manager, your role will be to lead our Material Schedulers, ensuring that we have the correct materials on site at the right time for our production facilities whilst managing cost and transportation. Supplier performance and adherence to plan is a key responsibility for the role, always looking for how performance and costs can be improved. Using metrics to drive continuous improvement, you will assist the team to drive efficiencies and create mitigation plans if required.
What does the job entail?
1. Team leadership and developing engagement through a positive and continuous improvement culture, holding regular and effective 1-2-1's, annual appraisals, and helping in the creation of development plans.
2. Contributing to and implementing the Supply Chain strategy, deploying it through the team ensuring everyone understands their role in the plan.
3. Ensuring inventory levels are maintained within agreed target levels and creating plans to resolve any imbalances. Developing and reporting the inventory forecast and identifying obsolete stock and working to mitigate financial impact.
4. Key member of the Supply Chain Leadership Team working to measure, analyse and improve performance and impacts.
5. Developing the detailed schedules in line with the Master Production Schedule and Aftermarket requirements. Carrying out detailed capacity planning and monitoring all critical resources and proposing mitigation plans. Making adjustments as required according to risks in the external environment.
6. Ensuring that purchasing data is accurate, up to date, and regularly audited, liaising with internal teams and suppliers to maintain integrity.
7. Meeting with suppliers to discuss performance metrics, providing performance feedback and proactively creating, sharing, and improving forecasts and capacity plans. Highlighting any supplier or sub-tier risks.
8. Accountable for the management and reliability of inventories and determining how to increase stock turns, reduce waste, and optimise customer service.
9. Measuring and analysing performance in line with BU defined metrics, managing the creation of relevant reports. Analysing the root cause of missed metrics and working with the relevant teams to develop the necessary recovery plans.
