IT Engineer – Birmingham

Salary: £34,000-£39,000

Responsibilities:
1. Provide end user support, logging all incidents and service requests accurately and resolving in a timely fashion within boundaries of SLA/SLO.
2. Provide technical support to IT team members and act as escalation point for them.
3. Proactively work to predict issues and the actions needed to prevent them.
4. Identify and rectify issues and act as technical lead for incidents where required.
5. Create and develop procedures and processes for IT to optimize efficiency and SLA delivery.
6. Provide advice and guidance to staff on the use of IT systems and software, translating technical information into easily understood language.
7. Develop software, programs, and processes to meet the needs of the company.
8. Support Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
9. Lead on delivery initiatives for the team, articulating and understanding the Why and the What while maintaining technical focus in the How.
Role Requirements:
1. Provide responsive IT support services from our Birmingham office.
2. Install and configure hardware operating systems and applications.
3. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
4. Prioritize and manage multiple open cases/requests simultaneously.
5. Establish good working relationships with customers and other professionals.
6. Create, maintain, and update technical documentation regularly.
7. Be responsible for agreed key business processes supported by Technology.
8. Implement resilience and redundancy within technical processes.
9. Test software releases into business systems.
Essential Skills:
1. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to quickly identify problems methodically.
2. Good analytical and problem-solving skills within Windows Desktop and Server / Linux / 365 / AD / DNS / IP / AWS / AZURE / LAN / WAN / WLAN / SDWAN environments.
3. Understanding of AD / AAD / 365 / Mail routing / Teams Rooms and General AV Awareness.
4. Knowledge of local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs), including network topologies, protocols, and routing.
5. Understanding of security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and encryption.
6. In-depth awareness of Cybersecurity and ability to maintain accurate records and document procedures.
7. SQL Server query, management, and maintenance.
8. Maria DB understanding, query, management, and maintenance.
9. Dynamics platform understanding, maintenance, and management.
10. Security awareness and understanding, with partner management and incident resolution involvement.
