We are currently seeking a highly motivated nurse to join our nurse led unit as an IV Infusions Nurse at Cathedral Day Unit, Kent and Canterbury Hospital. This is a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover post.
Cathedral Day Unit is a warm and welcoming unit within the base of the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. The Cathedral Day Unit team is relatively small, but this job gives the opportunity to work closely with many different roles within the multidisciplinary team, and form close working relationships, all pulling together to get the best for our patient group. We provide full in-house training, both practical, in the form of nurse educators and mentors, and also theoretical, with regular teaching sessions and innovative use of Google Classrooms, an online educational platform.
Main duties of the job
The post has been developed to offer the opportunity to develop professionally with the aim of becoming a competent, knowledgeable infusions nurse within the haemato-oncology units, able to give holistic care to the patient and their family throughout their course of treatment. The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care in which they are competent, without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and support the training of both qualified and unqualified staff. This post is not a part of the chemotherapy development nurse pathway, but will offer an opportunity to support the out-patient unit staff with less complex infusions and regimes.
