Production Supervisor Job Overview
My client is a manufacturer of interiors for the automotive industry and is looking for a Production Supervisor to join their team on a 3-shift pattern.
Responsibilities include:
1. Line manager of 15 to 25 operators who work in the same time frame (shift).
2. Ensure QCD indicators reflect customer expectations.
3. Define, together with the supervisors of the other shifts and the UAP manager, QCDP targets for the GAPs (improvement versus actual situation): ppm, pph, TRS, absenteeism, number of accidents, improvement ideas.
4. Monitor performance during the shift and report accurate data at the end of the shift.
5. Manage resources to reach results: adapt headcount to volume, etc.
6. React in case of a problem: take care of immediate containment, call support functions, build corrective action plans.
7. Replace GAP leader when necessary.
8. Drive actions for improvement: know team problems, seek feedback.
9. Define area for performance improvements.
10. Drive teamwork and problem-solving activities, lead problem-solving groups and workshops (5S, Hoshin, TPM, SMED, 6 Quality Basics).
11. Drive improvement ideas generation and implementation.
12. Ensure audits of standardized work are conducted by GAP leaders on a daily basis and ensure corrective actions are taking place.
13. Conduct audits once a week with each GAP Leader to ensure respect of standardized work.
14. Aim to devote 70% of time to improvement actions.
15. Assure daily management with a permanent presence on the shop floor: daily contact with all team members, close management of the lines.
16. Manage headcount: plan the day before, allocate people for the next day, and plan on a weekly basis.
17. Coach GAP Leaders and team members in how to perform their role.
18. Support and help to fix problems.
19. Ensure discipline and rigor (work wear, break times, working hours).
20. Ensure the respect of safety instructions, policies, and procedures.
21. Develop the team by participating in the selection and recruitment of staff.
22. Ensure proper induction of new operators on the line.
23. Build training plans to increase team autonomy; ensure training and coaching of team members.
24. Manage annual performance interviews for all team members.
Production Supervisor Job Requirements
1. Must have experience in an Automotive Manufacturing background.
2. Experience in a production supervisory environment.
3. Experience working with management systems.
4. Experience managing a team of logistics operators.
5. Live within a commutable distance to Litchfield.
6. Happy to work shifts (including nights).
