Cowes is one ofthe world's premier international sailing destinations and hosts arange of events throughout the year including the renowned CowesWeek Regatta. At its spiritual heart is Cowes Yacht Haven (CYH), amarina, boatyard and events centre that facilitates much of thesailing and related events in and around Cowes. CYH is operated asa facility for local boat owners as well as an international venuefor visiting yachts participating in some of the world's mostprestigious sailing events. CYH is owned (98%) by Cowes TownWaterfront Trust (CTWT), a charity that enables CYH to operate as aworld-class sailing venue and to offer support to those who want tofurther their sailing experience, particularly those facinghardships. In addition, the trust owns and manages a propertyportfolio within the town.
Following a retirement, CTWTis seeking a new trustee to join its experienced and enthusiasticboard. This would suit a member of the local Isle of Wightcommunity and, in particular, one with experience in financialmanagement.
The board meets eight times a year and onethird retires by rotation at the AGM and can be re-elected ifeligible. This is a voluntary position for which there is noremuneration.
CTWT is a registered charity and isoperated as a company limited by guarantee. The board isresponsible for managing the property portfolio as well as planningfuture strategy and policies of CYH and CTWT. Both boards guide andsupport the CYH managing director and staff.
Therecruitment process will involve an interview with the boardchairman and CYH managing director, prior to a second interviewwith a number of current CTWT trustees.
