Post Title: Residential Support Worker / Residential Child Care Officer (RSW / RCO)
Reports To: Registered Manager
Liaison With: Deputy Manager & Senior Staff
Salary Range: £24,000 - £26,000 DOE
Key Responsibilities:
1. Establish and Maintain a Positive Environment
1.1 Create a calm and relaxed group living experience that promotes emotional security and personal growth among young people.
1.2 Develop a thorough understanding of the company's philosophy and policies.
1.3 Plan and participate in recreational and social programs that engage individuals and groups in constructive leisure activities.
1.4 Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work.
2. Young People Support
2.1 Foster positive relationships with young people based on trust, respect, and open communication.
2.2 Encourage socially acceptable behavior and provide guidance and counseling as needed.
2.3 Take responsibility for the safe supervision of young people and exercise adequate control.
2.4 Serve as Key Worker for individual young people, including casework, report writing, and care planning.
3. Staff Development
3.1 Engage in professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
3.2 Participate in staff meetings and contribute to discussions.
3.3 Attend In-Service Training sessions as required.
3.4 Assist in the induction and support of new staff members.
4. Assessment and Reporting
4.1 Utilize the company's mechanisms to record progress and development of young people.
4.2 Contribute to social and emotional reports as necessary.
4.3 Attend and contribute to Annual Multi-disciplinary Review meetings or other relevant events.
5. Resource Management
5.1 Effectively utilize resources within the Home and be aware of company and community resources.
5.2 Maintain orderliness of living and social areas, and clean in emergencies.
6. Management and Administration
6.1 Monitor relationships between young people, staff, and others to improve quality and relationships.
6.2 Ensure accurate and complete casework records for assigned Key Workers.
7. General Duties
7.1 Perform reasonable tasks assigned by the Registered Manager or designated deputy/team leader.
7.2 Drive or escort young people to school, shopping trips, and activities.
7.3 Undertake sleeping-in duties as required.
