About the role
In this position you will be responsible for:
* Developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with Wiltshire Police’s priorities and values.
* Leading a multi-disciplinary team to deliver integrated communications campaigns across digital and traditional platforms.
* Building and maintaining professional relationships with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), local stakeholders, and national partners.
* Overseeing media relations, crisis communication, and reputation management for the Force.
* Shaping and delivering public engagement strategies that foster trust and enhance two-way communication with communities across Wiltshire.
* Representing the Force at key local, regional, and national forums, ensuring our communications remain proactive, innovative, and impactful.
About you and your experience
* A degree or equivalent professional qualification in communications, or significant senior-level experience in media and communications (Public Sector, Police, Local Authority, or a fast-paced private sector environment).
* Demonstrable expertise in managing high-pressure media relations and delivering impactful public communications across diverse channels.
* Proven ability to manage reputational risk and lead communications during crises or major incidents.
* Experience in building and leading high-performing teams, with a focus on professional development and future-proofing skills.
* Knowledge of media law, confidentiality requirements, and GDPR compliance.
* Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to consolidate complex information for senior decision-makers and the public.
