Engineering @ 365 is recruiting for a Growing Manager to work within a leading fresh produce environment. This role requires overseeing the growing team and ensuring that all growing operations align with production plans, food safety regulations, and customer quality standards. The successful candidate will report into the Growing Consultant and Operations Director while working closely with the Works Manager.
Job Description:
As a Growing Manager, you will be responsible for managing the growing operations and ensuring the timely production of high-quality produce. You will supervise the growing team and ensure that all growing houses are filled, maintained, and monitored efficiently. The role also involves implementing crop husbandry practices, pest and disease control, and optimising yields to meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure all growing houses are filled, transferred, and emptied in line with KPIs.
* Train new team members on disease control and elimination.
* Attend daily farm walks and weekly planning meetings with the Growing Consultant.
* Oversee and manage all growing operations to ensure efficiency and quality.
* Implement climate control and fertigation strategies.
* Conduct crop walking and pest/disease scouting.
* Promote and enforce excellent health & safety standards.
* Maintain good manufacturing practices (GMP) and high housekeeping standards.
* Support harvesting supervisors during peak periods.
* Report on KPI figures in monthly meetings.
* Assist with audits, customer visits, and technical assessments.
* Carry out any additional duties as required.
Requirements:
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Previous experience in a growing role, preferably within fresh produce.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
* Food hygiene qualification.
* Experience managing health & safety in a growing environment.
* HACCP qualification.
* Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Desirable Experience & Qualifications:
* Previous experience as a Grower in a commercial growing environment.
* Experience working in a chilled, fast-paced FMCG environment.
* BRC knowledge and retailer audit experience.
* Degree in Agriculture or Horticulture.
