General Dynamics Land Systems is on the look-out for an Engineering Apprenticeship to join our Engineering Team. The successful and inclusive candidate will earn a favourable salary. This is an ideal role for someone who has a proactive and positive mindset and a keen desire to grow professionally.
Joining an established team based at our Oakdale and Merthyr facility, you will work across a range of stakeholders. The scheme will operate over a three year period and will enable the individual to gain an appreciation of engineering disciplines including Software and CAD within GDUK.

If you were already working in this position, this is what you would have been working on this week:
* Undertake a range of tasks suited to the current level of training and development
* Attend university and complete course work on time and to a high standard
* Produce, maintain and be responsible for content, accuracy and sign off of log books
* Take on additional responsibility in Year 3 of the Apprenticeship
* Understand and complete all work related documentation accurately and on time
* Understand and comply with policies and procedures
* Carry out work in a safe and diligent manner
* Comply with all Health & Safety policies and procedures
* Attend and fully participate regular training and development reviews with line management, mentor and HR representatives
* To undertake additional duties in line with capabilities as required
* Learn to interpret functional and non-functional software requirements and how to embody them in software designs.
* Gain an understanding of how to develop and update software solutions, using the common programming languages
* Develop key skills in fault isolation and system root cause analysis.
* Have the ability under supervision to perform basic software tasks across all phases of the software development lifecycle : Requirements analysis, architectural design, implementation and test.
* Learn to interpret the concept, through development & validation (Cradle to Grave)
* Support to prototype and production teams during FoT fit and through life change updates.
