We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated substance use practitioner to join the FIRST Service.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new post within secure care based within FIRST. This additional substance use practitioner will join the substance use element of service provision. The role is focused on the delivery and development of substance interventions as part of individualised recovery plans.
You will be required to demonstrate an understanding of secure care, with a sound knowledge base of the complexities of working with co-existing mental illness and problematic substance use.
The post will require cross site working and into community settings across the region, working closely with a range of teams in the development and implementation of care pathways. The post holder will also be expected to participate in the delivery of training and education of others, working closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialists, Substance Use Practitioners, and wider team/s to achieve high quality, evidence-based, integrated, recovery-oriented support.
The interventions delivered are based on the Reaside Integrated Treatment Programme and are underpinned by C-BIT (Cognitive Behavioural Integrated Treatment).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the delivery of services that meet FIRST team objectives for optimal mental health, physical health, and social well-being.
2. Contribute to evidence-based, structured interventions to individuals with problematic drug and alcohol use, including 1:1 and group interventions.
3. Encourage positive therapeutic retention and engagement in support offered, with clear recovery goals focusing on sustainable recovery, integration, and planned discharge from secure services and FIRST.
4. Participate in harm reduction interventions.
5. Provide evidence-based relapse prevention interventions and onward referral to partners, other relevant partnership agencies, peer mentors, and signposting to mutual aid groups where appropriate/identified in recovery and support plans.
6. Support the delivery of NA groups, which happen on different sites on Tuesday evenings.
