Our client is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies, with over 20,000 employees worldwide. They have a great opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their ground engineering and tunnels team in East Croydon. Our client has an increasing portfolio of prestigious geotechnical projects in the UK and internationally. They are increasing their team to meet the growing demands from their clients, especially in the rail sector. Duties:
* The candidate will require strong technical and management credentials and be able to lead projects with particular focus in railway geotechnics to support their increasing workload in the UK and globally.
* They are looking for a well-rounded candidate who can lead geotechnical projects with minimal supervision, lead bids and grow existing and new commissions and work in a Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) function on rail projects. They will be based in East Croydon but will be able to also work across their London and Epsom offices on occasion and get involved with work in other sectors such as their growing water and energy markets.
* The successful candidate will be expected to hold a pivotal role in their Railway Geotechnics and Earthworks and Natural Slopes disciplines.
Requirements
* A strong academic background with a relevant degree and ideally an MSc in a relevant subject.
* Proven geotechnical analysis and design experience, with relevant experience in railway geotechnics.
* Project Management including commercial experience.
* Leadership skills, including being able to manage and develop others.
* Experience in ground investigation and interpretation.
* Project leader skills and CRE experience with interface with contractor clients and site experience.
* A desire to drive digital innovation and further client's capability in advanced geotechnical analysis and design.
* Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients and engineers from other disciplines.
* Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
* A willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas.
* Chartered status.
* A valid UK driving licence.
