Duties of the Social Services Occupational Therapist:
* Practice as a Best Interests Assessor to support Council Supervisory Body to fulfil its statutory duties in relation to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
* Undertake complex Best Interests Assessments requiring high level, specialist expertise.
* Practice as prescribed by the Mental Capacity Act 2005 & Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards 2007 Codes of Practice.
* Undertake all duties relating to the process and practice of Best Interests Assessment in accordance with Medway DOLS Office policies and procedures.
* Cooperate fully with the DoLS Team Manager regarding rota planning and leave arrangements.
* Work alongside DOLS Office colleagues and Best Interests Assessors in complex cases.
Requirements of the Social Services Occupational Therapist:
* Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
* Recent experience working as an Occupational Therapist.
* Recent experience within social services / local authority / council.
* Registered with the HCPC.
