We have an opportunity to join our Legal team on a 9 month fixed term contract. Ensuring that the Group meets all legal and regulatory requirements, including those under the Companies Act. Supporting (as required) those with departmental responsibility for data protection, H&S, and FCA requirements etc. Ensuring that the Group has appropriate contracts to cover all the key aspects of their business operations i.e., distribution, asset management, product related, commercial, corporate, lending, IT, Intellectual Property, employment, Data, product and other suppliers. Assisting the Company Secretarial/Corporate Governance function when required. Providing high quality legal advice generally. Your responsibilities will include: Producing accurate, timely and well-presented legal advice to the Group. Working with and influencing senior management to maintain high standards of legal compliance. Interpret, communicate and monitor the implementation of new and amended legislation to ensure business compliance. Actively participate in the formulation of Legal /Corporate Services policies and procedures. Monitor and continuously improve contract monitoring and control systems. Actively monitor litigious claims and complaints to secure speedy and cost-effective compromises. Attend Board and Committee meetings where required, and assist the Chief of Staff functions where required. What will you need to succeed? 2-4 years qualified solicitor having had experience in corporate and/or commercial; OR 2-4 years post qualification operational experience as in-house legal counsel in financial services industry. Strong legal skills relating to commercial contracts. Understanding and knowledge of all areas of commercial law. Sound base knowledge of financial services legislation. Cognisant of Openwork Strategy and conduct risks. Ability to self-manage and self-motivate. Proven ability to take on new responsibilities and develop skills in new areas of the law. Excellent oral/written communication, influencing and negotiating skills. Excellent planning and organisational skills. Good problem solving, decision making and judgment skills.
