As our operations continue to expand, we are looking for a highly motivated Buyer/Senior Buyer to join our fast-paced Procurement team, ensuring the effective sourcing and procurement of key services and materials to support our projects.
SCOPE OF ROLE
As a Buyer/Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for end-to-end procurement, including sourcing, negotiation, and order management across a wide range of infrastructure projects. You will collaborate with the Estimating, Project, and Finance teams to ensure value-driven procurement solutions that meet JSM’s quality, compliance, and cost-effectiveness standards.
HOW YOU'LL SUCCEED
1. Providing robust, compliant cost analysis at the tender stage to support estimating
2. Managing the sourcing and procurement process, ensuring the best value and efficiency
3. Negotiating and placing Purchase Orders (POs) to meet project demands
4. Using Procurement software to generate orders and manipulate data for reports
5. Category Management of designated product groupings
6. Expediting and managing orders to ensure timely project delivery
7. Generating procurement reports to track performance and spending
8. Monitoring supplier performance, reviewing non-conformances, and ensuring compliance
9. Managing supplier relationships, including attending meetings and quarterly reviews
10. Analysing supply and demand trends, ensuring optimal procurement timing
11. Resolving invoice discrepancies and procurement queries
12. Engaging in inter-departmental collaboration, attending project pre-start meetings
WHAT IT TAKES
* Proven experience (5-10 years) in a Buyer/Senior Buyer role within Utilities, Power, or Construction
* CIPS Level 4 qualification preferred (but not mandatory)
* Strong negotiation skills, with a commercial mindset and market awareness
* Analytical problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to procurement
* Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities effectively
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and procurement software
* Strong organisational and time-management skills
* Experience in overseas sourcing (advantageous)
