Job Title: Fire & Security Small Works Engineer Location: Field-Based Annual Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 (depending on experience) Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday) Travel Required: Yes, full UK driving license essential Position Type: Full Time About the Role: We are looking for an enthusiastic and approachable Fire & Security Small Works Engineer to join a growing team. The role involves installing, maintaining, and servicing fire and security systems, as well as responding to emergency call-outs as needed. The successful candidate will work directly with clients to ensure that systems are installed, serviced, and maintained to a high standard. Key Responsibilities: Installation and servicing of fire alarms (addressable and conventional), CCTV, security systems, and access control systems. Fault finding, diagnosing issues, and rectifying problems with various systems. Commissioning of systems and ensuring that all relevant documentation is completed accurately. Maintaining high health and safety standards on all installations. Working from technical drawings and preparing for system installations. Updating Alarm Master/PDA systems with relevant data. Ordering replacement parts and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of all job-related activities. Completing equipment fault reports and maintaining secure job files. Conducting electrical testing, including emergency lighting, PAVA systems, and disabled refuge systems. Identifying and developing new business opportunities, such as service contracts and fire risk assessments. Qualifications & Education Requirements: A minimum of 5 GCSEs (A-C), including Maths and English (or equivalent). Full, valid driving license. Clear DBS check and clean security history. Preferred Skills: Strong interest in developing a career in Electrical Engineering and Electrical Installation. Hard-working, reliable, and a team player. Willingness to learn and expand skill set. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently. Willingness to attend training courses to further enhance technical knowledge and skills. Physically and mentally capable of managing the demands of the job.
