About the Role/Role Overview As a Geography Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons that align with the national curriculum. You will encourage students to explore the world’s physical and human landscapes, developing their analytical and problem-solving abilities. Responsibilities of the Geography Teacher: Plan and deliver high-quality geography lessons that inspire students and cater to a range of learning abilities. Foster a passion for geographical inquiry, encouraging students to think critically about global issues, sustainability and environmental challenges. Implement a variety of teaching strategies, including fieldwork, interactive discussions and the use of digital mapping tools. Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to support academic development. Develop and maintain an inclusive learning environment, ensuring all students feel valued and supported. Work collaboratively with the Humanities department to enhance the geography curriculum and share best practices. Engage with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and well-being. Promote the importance of global citizenship, environmental awareness and cultural understanding within the classroom. Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and engagement, fostering a positive and respectful classroom culture. Requirements of the Geography Teacher: To be considered for this role, you must have: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification. ECT’s & experienced teachers can also apply. A degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field. Proven experience as a Geography Teacher, with a track record of delivering engaging lessons and achieving strong student outcomes. A thorough understanding of the UK Geography curriculum, assessment frameworks and best teaching practices. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and inspire students of all abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents. A passion for sustainability, global issues and environmental education. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
