Senior Bookkeeper
Merseyside | £35,000 - £50,000 DOE + Bonuses | Full-time, Permanent
Howard James Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a rapidly growing, award-winning independent business in the electrical wholesale sector, based in Merseyside.
Due to continued expansion, we are now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to take ownership of the financial function and support the business through its next exciting phase of growth.
What you'll be doing:
1. Maintaining and reconciling financial records, including sales and purchase ledgers
2. Preparing VAT returns and managing payroll processes
3. Handling bank reconciliations and overseeing cash flow
4. Assisting with monthly management accounts and financial reporting
5. Liaising with external accountants and auditors
6. Continuously reviewing and improving financial systems and processes
What we're looking for:
1. Strong bookkeeping experience - ideally within a similar industry (not essential)
2. Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks
3. Solid understanding of VAT and payroll
4. Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
5. Able to work independently and manage multiple financial tasks efficiently
