Overview of role:
The Project Quantity Surveyor will be based in Manchester, with travel to sites nationally and the opportunity for hybrid working.
The Project Quantity Surveyor will lead commercial activities and will be pivotal in the success and growth of the business, by supporting pre contractual activities including, cost analysis, estimating and negotiation. This will extend to assisting with the bid and tender functions of the business ensuring accuracy of project cost and best value resulting in commercially competitive proposals.
Demonstrating strong knowledge of commercial contracts (including JCT and NEC), the Project Quantity Surveyor will review new contracts and will also be required to produce contracts as the business requires.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Examination and payment of sub-sub-contractor accounts including settlement of variation accounts, and issue of sub-contract notices as required.
Vetting and negotiation in connection with the proposed sub-contract documentation to achieve the best value.
Production and submission of cash flow forecast (Internal/External);
Produce monthly CVR reports to agreed deadlines.
Analysis of the sub-contract tender to prepare format for valuation applications.
Monitor performance against project cost/value making recommendations and implementing agreed action.
Through record keeping assist in the monitoring of project progress relative to agreed sub-contract programme and if necessary, issue of appropriate ‘formal’ notices.
Assess in conjunction with project team, drawings produced in order to assist in the identification of variations.
Encourage new ideas, i.e. organisational and systems developments.
Skills and Experience:
Demonstrable experience as a M&E Quantity Surveyor
HNC/HND, or equivalent in appropriate discipline Quantity Surveying and/or Commercial Management, or from appropriate MEP trade and converted to a QS (desirable)
Appropriate CSCS Card.
Good knowledge of commercial contracts (including JCT, Nec)
Proven experience in MEP industry.
Experience in industry finance such as PSDS and CIF.
Extensive experience of working on live projects from commencement to completion and delivering final accounts.
Experience of procuring major works sub-contracts.
Operating both JCT and NEC contracts, including Target Cost projects.
Additional Requirements:
Full UK Driving Licence
Must be eligible and have the right to work in the UK
