We are looking to appoint two Maintenance Assistant to support our existing team and Estates Manager in providing a range of daily services. Tasks will include a wide variety of maintenance jobs across the site and work with the team on general duties, event set up and facilitation. The position would suit someone who is flexible, enthusiastic, self-motivated, a good communicator, and a good team player. Support services at Reigate Grammar School (RGS) are provided by the Estates team, and the school operates from 7am to 9pm most days during term time plus weekend events at varying times. The current team set up is: Estates Manager, Deputy Manager and Administrator Maintenance Team Supervisor and Maintenance/ Caretaking team Grounds Manager and team Porter Desk team Pool Supervisor Cleaning Services Cleaning Manager and team (duties across three schools) The Estates Manager has direct responsibility for all RGS premises matters reporting directly to the School Bursar. The team delivers a wide range of key services including responsive and preventative maintenance, building refurbishments setting up/clearing and supporting events, responsive and scheduled security arrangements, janitorial tasks, cleaning, waste management provisions, porter desk services, coach park and car parking supervision alongside many other general duties required in keeping the site clean, safe and operational to meet the varying demands of each busy day. Term Time 4 days per week - Monday to Thursday only (shift rota) Week 1 8am to 3pm Coach park and traffic control duties in the morning and during the day according to school event needs Event/assembly clear down (on site and at local church) reinstating spaces for normal daily usage. Janitorial duties, deliveries, site clearance jobs, light general maintenance works, miscellaneous tasks as advised by line manager and according to work and school event schedule. Driving school vehicles for external tasks or movement of event items around the sites. Week 2 1pm to 8pm Afternoon external site clearance duties with particular attention to areas in use for evening events Clear down of lunch set ups and resets for events/ assemblies (same day/evening or following morning) Coach park and traffic control duties including event car parking during and after school hours Janitorial duties, deliveries, general maintenance works, misc. tasks as advised by line manager and according to work and school event schedule. Driving school vehicles for external tasks or movement of event items around the sites. Weeks 3, 4 etc. are a repeat of weeks 1 and 2 Term Time extras: There may be requirements and opportunities to work extra hours in term time to support peak times which may also include requests for ad hoc weekend support to be mutually agreed and paid as additional hours accordingly. School Holiday Time 4 days per week - Monday to Thursday the hours are within the standard day of 8am to 5pm. The shift patterns are not required unless for exceptional circumstances usually known and agreed in advance. School Holiday Times: The school holiday weeks are approximately 17 per year and the post holders are required to work a minimum of six weeks to be agreed in advance and likely to be in the main school holiday periods during the October half term, at Easter and in the summer holiday. There may be requirements and opportunities to work extra hours in the school holiday periods which can be agreed in advance and additional payment made accordingly.
