Key Responsibilities: Student Support: Work directly with students who exhibit challenging behaviours, providing one-to-one mentoring and small group interventions. Identify triggers for negative behaviour and develop strategies to address them. Act as a role model, promoting positive attitudes and behaviours. Support students in developing self-regulation, resilience, and coping strategies. Behaviour Management: Implement behaviour improvement plans and track student progress. Monitor and de-escalate situations involving challenging behaviour. Promote and enforce the school’s behaviour policy consistently. Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and parents to create a supportive network for students. Liaise with external agencies (e.g., counselling services, educational psychologists) as required. Provide feedback and progress reports to staff and parents on students’ development. Classroom Support: Assist teaching staff in maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment. Support students with reintegration into lessons after incidents of challenging behaviour. Development and Training: Participate in training sessions to enhance skills in behaviour management and mentoring. Stay informed of best practices in student support and behaviour mentoring. Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of mentoring sessions and behavioural incidents. Contribute to reports for internal use and external agencies when needed. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with discretion. Qualifications and Experience: Essential: GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths. Experience working with young people in an educational or youth work setting.
