Scope Of The Role
We are looking for a highly qualified Senior Legal Counsel with a passion for legal matters in logistics, commercial and corporate law, and data protection. This role will focus on fully supporting the organization on a wide range of legal and compliance issues.
In this position you should enable sound business decisions and processes by providing accurate and timely advice on legal principles and procedures relating to a wide range of legal and commercial issues.
Job Responsibilities
1. Review and provide advice on legal and commercial issues in new contracts with customers and suppliers.
2. Assist in negotiating new contracts with customers and/or suppliers.
3. Ensure compliance with Corporate Governance policies and applicable laws.
4. Provide interpretation and advice on existing contracts where disputes have arisen. Advise on strategies for effective dispute resolution.
5. Deal with claims issued against the company, assessing merits and providing advice for optimal outcomes.
6. Provide general legal advice to various departments including employment, IT, and procurement.
Job Requirements
1. Experience in a broad range of commercial transactions and legal matters, preferably with cross-border and international transactions.
2. Knowledge of the logistics industry with the ability to provide commercially focused advice and solutions.
3. Experience dealing with outsourcing transactions, including agreements related to asset transfers, key performance indicators, and employee transfers under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006.
4. Experience in freight forwarding including sea freight, air freight, overland, integrated logistics, and multimodal.
5. Good working knowledge of international conventions and standard trading conditions, e.g., CMR, Hague Visby Rules, Warsaw Convention, Montreal Convention, FIATA, BIFA, RHA.
6. Effective communication skills across functional and organizational lines, with the ability to build strong client relationships.
