Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Medical Secretary based at University Hospital Ayr.
What you will do:
You will form part of the Medical Secretarial team and will provide a comprehensive medical secretarial service to the Consultants and their clinical team within ENT and Neurology. You will work alongside a colleague who covers the Maxillo-Facial service and will therefore provide cover during absence.
Core duties will include transcription from digital dictation of all clinical correspondence. You will also be responsible for ensuring the large volume of patient results that require to be seen and reported by the Clinicians are dealt with appropriately and timeously to ensure specific pathways are followed, as well as ensuring the UHC secretarial team are given the correct patient details for those who require to be added to the waiting list for surgery.
Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
Experience within a Medical Secretarial environment is essential, and you should have a relevant secretarial qualification e.g., AMSPAR Diploma for Medical Secretaries, RSA or Scotvec qualification or equivalent experience. A working knowledge of the patient management system (Trak) and knowledge of medical terminology is essential, including the ability to operate and maintain a computerised waiting list.
