We are looking for a speech and language therapy assistant to work on the bank within our Adult Speech and Language Therapy team. We need the right fit and skills to support our busy teams, who work across all acute wards, including stroke and critical care. There will be opportunities to support our regular video fluoroscopy clinics and FEES service and carry a caseload of your own, with support.
Main duties of the job
To assist the hospital Speech and Language therapy team in providing support to enable the delivery of a high standard of service provision that is patient-centred and develops in line with national and local policies and initiatives.
To provide patient sessions to contribute to patient care as delegated by and under the guidance of a qualified Speech and Language therapist to assess, treat, and support patients with swallowing and/or communication difficulties and their families and carers.
To work effectively and efficiently as a Speech and Language therapy assistant within a multi-professional team environment while maintaining good communication skills.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Health-related Apprenticeship/NVQ level II/III, higher development award level 3 or willingness to undertake
* Care certificate or willingness to undertake
* Functional skills level 2 in English
* Evidence of having attended clinical training and the learning gained
Experience
* Experience in the NHS or Health/Care setting
* Experience of IT systems e.g. email, word, internet
Knowledge
* Basic moving and handling equipment
* Knowledge of therapy support worker role
Skills
* Able to undertake delegated treatment programmes/techniques without supervision
