Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll be working in a part of Telent that is dedicated to maintaining the UK-wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.
Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the Systems Engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. Acting as the Systems Engineer for customer projects, you will undertake all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical implementation of SISS within a Rail environment.
Typical Deliverables
* Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
* Lead the creation of new product or service ideas and develop plans for new designs.
* Manage ideas from initial design through to production and installation.
* Draw detailed technical plans for concepts.
* Use mathematical and scientific skills to develop practical solutions.
* Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
* Calculate accurate cost forecasts for projects.
* Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
* Ensure quality control and oversee construction, development, and deployment.
Responsibilities
* Maintain in-depth knowledge of engineering disciplines and related areas.
* Coordinate testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
* Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
* Develop personal engineering skills continuously.
* Solve complex problems with innovative solutions.
* Work independently with minimal guidance.
* Lead projects or project phases and mentor colleagues.
* Comply with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements
* Previous technical experience in SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
* Relevant licenses and certifications.
* Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD software.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to collaborate and work with stakeholders.
* Passion for problem-solving and providing effective solutions.
* Strong analytical and visualization skills.
