The ICT & Computing Lead Teacher Job
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and able ICT & Computing Lead Teacher to a well run, supportive and welcoming school community in Southwark. This is a full-time role working in an Alternative Provision setting teaching small groups.
The ICT & Computing Lead Teacher position would be an excellent opportunity for an experienced ICT & Computing teacher to take on a leadership role. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a good record of work with pupils in an Alternative Provision or SEMH setting (although mainstream experience only would also be considered).
The successful ICT & Computing Lead Teacher will be tasked with the development and delivery of the ICT & Computing curriculum up to GCSE or BTEC levels. As ICT & Computing Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for your curriculum area, ensuring that schemes of work, personalised planning, pupil tracking, and regular assessment are in place.
You will teach small groups of pupils using a variety of delivery methods (including new technologies) to engage, challenge, and achieve positive outcomes for students. Pupils at this school struggle to maintain discipline, and as such, you will need to develop good working relationships, clear boundaries, and expectations in accordance with the school's procedures, and to encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work, and homework.
You will also act as a personal tutor for a group of pupils. This will include regular liaison with parents/carers and individual target setting, monitoring, and reviewing. TLR 2 point is available for the right candidate.
The School
This Southwark school offers a supportive environment and is committed to high-quality professional development and continuous improvement in teaching and learning. Excellent public transport links at both Southwark sites.
The ICT & Computing Lead Teacher role is working at an alternative education provision for secondary-aged learners who are out of mainstream education due to a permanent exclusion or a number of other complex needs. If you are able to inspire and motivate students, can build trust and raise students' aspirations, and are able to bring ICT alive across the school, then we would like to hear from you.
The ethos is underpinned by the fundamental belief that every person, in spite of their background, previous life experience, or the challenges they may have faced, has the right to achieve and should be provided with every available opportunity to do so. Pupils thrive at this school because staff have extremely detailed knowledge of each individual pupil and have developed strong, caring relationships with them. Pupils rise to the high aspirations that adults have for them.
The Ideal ICT & Computing Lead Teacher
The successful ICT & Computing Lead Teacher candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience teaching in the UK as a specialist ICT & Computing Teacher. You will share the school values - Growth, Resilience, Excellence, Ambition & Respect.
The right candidate will be a specialist ICT & Computing Teacher, with the skills and abilities to lead the delivery of the ICT and computing curriculum up to GCSE or BTEC level at KS4. QTS would be beneficial though not essential - QTLS, DTTLS, and Overseas Trained ICT & Computing specialist teachers would be considered. Experience delivering ICT & Computing in an Alternative Provision/PRU environment would be beneficial. Strong Behaviour Management and Pastoral skills are highly desirable.
