We are delighted to open applications for a dedicated and ambitious Neurology Nurse to join our team at Hamilton Specialist Referrals on a full time or part time basis.

Hamilton Specialist Referrals is a purpose built state-of-the-art veterinary hospital which provides the latest in cutting edge, specialist treatments for cats and dogs, supported by an exceptional rehabilitation and physiotherapy facility.
As part of our neurology team, your general duties will include:
1. Providing support to the neurology department and being a point of contact to clients under the care of the neurology department, including organising admits and discharges.
2. Providing nursing care and ensuring neurology patients receive gold standard care.
3. Maintaining resources required by the neurologists including equipment and stock.
4. Communicating with the workflow coordinator to ensure smooth running of the neurology caseload.
5. Helping train and support junior members of staff with neurology kit and equipment.
6. Preparing and monitoring patients undergoing investigations or surgery, as well as recovering patients and handing over to ward RVNs.
7. Pricing and paperwork, such as updating relevant SOPs and ensuring all treatments have been charged correctly.
Our Neurology RVN role provides the opportunity to spend time in the prep area, one of three theatres, wards and our Imaging suite which Includes a 16-slice CT scanner, 1.5 Tesla MRI machine, Fluoroscopy Machine, Separate Radiography and Ultrasound room. You will see a wide variety of emergency and routine caseloads.
Supporting you in your new role
Experience within a referral setting is preferred but not essential, as we have a structured 6 week induction mentoring programme combined with a 6 month training period designed to support all new nurses. To be successful you will be a proactive, enthusiastic and approachable person who is not only a great team player, but can also use their own initiative and self-motivate. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to multi-task with a flexible approach to working, are a must.

The hospital is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is able to offer the most advanced treatment options available for orthopaedic, neurology, soft tissue, oncology, and internal medicine cases.
Working Pattern
A full time position covers 40 hours per week, either across 4 or 5 days. There is a 1 in 6 weekend rota for which TOIL is given, and you would ordinarily work 2 bank holidays per year. We also welcome part time applicants for this role, which would be 30hrs during the week plus the 1:6 weekend rota and bank holidays as mentioned.
