As Category Buyer you’ll report directly into the Category Manager.
The role will suit a Buyers Assistant or Category Buyer who has worked within the UK food or FMCG sector. You’ll be looking to develop and progress your career at a strategic level by supporting and developing the end-to-end procurement process.

As Category Buyer you’ll support the Category Manager to develop and execute a long-term category strategy that will deliver sustainable improvements in terms of cost, quality, service, and innovation in collaboration with the procurement team and other relevant business stakeholders.
You’ll Identify potential suppliers, visit, and meet existing suppliers, build, and maintain relationships. You’ll understand key cost drivers, industry trends and standard methodologies to design/implement the category strategy to ensure that your product range is compliant with food safety regulations and CSR requirements, assuring high quality standards.
You’ll need to be results oriented, be keen to develop your category knowledge and become a subject matter expert. You’ll be competent with procurement systems and Excel. Able to analyse data, with an ability to interpret data to support decision making. Some experience of influencing and negotiating with suppliers is needed along with being comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
