Mechanical Assembler vacancy in Inverurie - Scotland (071DM)
As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for the safe and precise assembly and testing of new WPCE products, including pressure testing and the assembly of related accessories.
You will contribute to the enhancement of products by applying specialized techniques, generating innovative ideas, and providing creative, efficient solutions to problems.
Additionally, you will assist your colleagues as needed and actively report any health and safety concerns or violations. Should you identify any unsafe practices, you are expected to halt operations immediately and report them to your Cell Leader or Line Manager. You will follow all risk assessments and participate in safety initiatives.
Ensuring the highest quality of your work is essential, with a focus on delivering results right the first time, on time.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.
2. Manufacture hydraulic systems as per designs/procedures, ensuring the cleanliness of hydraulic systems is always maintained.
3. Adhere to inspection/FAT criteria, policies, and procedures without exception, assisting other team members as required and providing feedback through the correct channels.
4. Carry out work instructions as given by Cell Leader (e.g., work specifications, equipment operation).
5. Monitor and control materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or faults.
6. Maintain quality and quantity of production.
7. Maintain an organized/visual workspace (5S understanding).
8. Support key initiatives such as on-time delivery, schedule attainment, and cost of quality.
9. Generate and implement improvement ideas and encourage idea generation among team members. Stop work for safety, stop production for quality, and escalate concerns.
10. Carry out training in job-related skills for workers.
11. Enforce safety and quality regulations.
12. Support all NCR reporting.
13. Support initiatives such as new techniques and products, and purchases of new machinery.
14. Attend daily team brief meetings, actively engaging in positive discussions regarding potential problematic areas.
15. Identify technical issues and seek support to rectify them while offering solutions where possible.
16. Identify and report quality-related issues to the Cell Leader.
17. Willingly assist the Cell Leader to eradicate identified potential areas of non-conformance.
18. Respond to identified process improvements and implement them willingly.
19. Report discrepancies in job route times as soon as they are identified, communicating them to the Cell Leader and implementing changes when requested.
20. Assist with streamlining and improving overall manufacturing efficiencies and process performance to reduce overall direct labor costs.
21. Take part and contribute to toolbox talks.
22. Cover holidays and absences by working overtime in line with business needs.
23. Demonstrate awareness of and promote company objectives, policies, and procedures.
24. Ensure that all procedures/paperwork is completed, kept up to date, and signed off by the relevant person.
25. Demonstrate desire and willingness to promote and ensure that 5S principles are adhered to.
26. Ensure all company policies surrounding health & safety, quality requirements, and housekeeping are met.
27. Adhere to inspection criteria, policies, and procedures without exception.
28. Carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate, as reasonably expected by the line manager.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. Ability to understand, evaluate, and apply technical information.
2. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics, and ETS, as well as written instructions and procedures.
3. Ability to learn the context of a challenge and quickly integrate new skills.
4. Has solutions and suggestions that are effective in addressing the problem at hand.
Qualifications:
Essential:
Completion of a time-served apprenticeship or possession of an HNC in a relevant field.
Desirable:
Higher education in a relevant discipline.
Experience:
Essential:
Practical experience in an assembly and manufacturing environment, including component preparation. Proven experience with small bore nonferrous tube bending. Familiarity with well control and pressure testing equipment.
Desirable:
Background in a mechanical-based profession, with experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic fittings, including autoclave threading and coning of high-pressure tubing.
Skills, Training, or Special Knowledge:
Essential:
Proficiency in computer use, particularly with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook). Competence in using basic hand and power tools.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Desirable:
Certification for operating forklifts and overhead cranes.
Duration: 6 months - high possibility to extend and temp to perm
Rotating day/night shift:
1st 1 to 2 months will be day shift only.
After rotating every 2 weeks.
Day shift: Mon-Thu 07.30-15.30, Fri 07.30-14.30
Night shift: Mon-Wed 19.00-05.30 & Thu 19.00-04.30
Night Shift Allowance: basic rate x 1/3.
